Pitfield London were asked to participate in an exciting project, which culminated last week. NYC advertising giants Grey and global hospitality brand Marriott Hotels identified Pitifeld London as a location they would love to visit that reflects innovation in everyday life and which combined a shop, café and exhibition gallery so creatively. Go us!
Marriott’s Travel Brilliantly site launched a multi-channel marketing campaign, asking consumers for ideas on how to improve regular travel. A variety of unique ideas were then brought to a panel of judges and the winning concept was selected (more to be revealed by Marriott themselves). The winner was the lovely Anjana Kallarackal. Along with a media representative (top US food blogger Ashley from Not Without Salt) and teams from Marriott and Grey, Anjana was welcomed to Pitfield. They chatted to (and filmed!) owner Shaun Clarkson about his vision for the space and thoughts towards a healthy lifestyle.
We all had a fantastic time chatting about our food and design passions and can’t wait to see the film clips on the website shortly. Watch this space!
PS. In other news, Pitfield London is proud to be taking part in Shop Small and Small Business Saturday (7th December 2013)! American Express Cardmembers will receive a £5 statement credit when they spend £10 or more in participating stores – like us! Happy shopping…
Pitfield London loves this time of year; we hope you had a happy Halloween and are looking forward to the fireworks still to come tomorrow! The winter celebrations don’t stop there as this Thursday, 7th November at 6-9pm, we’re celebrating our collaboration with jewellery designer Fiona Paxton… alongside the brand’s 5th birthday!
Not only is Fiona exhibiting her striking geometric pieces from the past 10 seasons, there’s also collaborative products to purchase exclusively from Pitfield. A striking handmade Indian rug, with Fiona Paxton’s recognisable playful print, is taking pride of place in the gallery. Cotton sateen cushions have also been designed with a bold print in gorgeous blue and purple shades – the designs are limited edition so grab them whilst you can.
If you’d like to join us for the private view party then please RSVP email@example.com by Wednesday 6th November to ensure you’re added to our guest-list on time. We look forward to meeting you there with grapefruit soda tequila cocktails in hand, courtesy of our brilliant drinks sponsor for the event, Jose Cuervo.
Don’t panic if you can’t make the party because the Fiona Paxton show will be in place until 24th November. See you at 31-35 Pitfield Street soon!
“Attracting the creative and curious”
If you haven’t checked out Pitfield People yet, then where have you been? The Pitfield London team joined forces with a brilliant art director and copywriter extraordinaire to bring you a blog which wasn’t just about our next exhibitions, pop-ups, sales and updates (cough cough) but was about YOU! We felt our interesting customers deserved a shout out too and we were intrigued to know just what they were choosing in our café for lunch or shop for their own homes or family’s and friend’s gifts – did their choices inspire you?
We’ll be taking the concept to our brand new pop-up in Winchester (check out their brand new blog site!) which launches on the…. 14th of this month! Stay tuned via Facebook and Twitter for news of a very special soft launch a couple of days before. Shhh.
Back in London, we’re still enjoying our London Design Festival 2013 exhibition with Deadgood but, come the 24th October, the space will be transformed! Check back next week for another post on our collaboration with British jewellery designer Fiona Paxton.
Have a great week Pitfield people x
Roll up, roll up, Pitfield London in Winchester is very nearly upon us! We’re hoping for the launch date to be just two weeks from now but it will take a huge team, wonderful suppliers, an incredible HR department, the best builders, painters and decorators and some extremely organised folk (to name but a few) to pull it all off.
The Winchester team popped by to 31-35 Pitfield Street today to steal some more key items(!) and ransack the stock areas where we’ve been storing unique vintage pieces, quirky homewares and beautiful Christmas gifts for our sister store.
Don’t forget to follow Pitfield Winchester over on their very own Twitter @pitfieldpopup and Facebook /pitfieldwinchester… Rumour has it a blog is on the way very soon too! They’ll also be getting involved in Pitfield People, our exciting new Tumblr blog, which introduces our customers, as creative and curious as our products! Do check it out if you haven’t already and just give us a shout if you’d like to be featured. Contact us 11am-7pm on 0207 490 6852 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope you’re as excited for our new pop-up location as we are and we look forward to welcoming you to 12, The Brooks this month. The count down is on.
The closing of London Design Festival sees the end of the Pitfield London pop-up at Design Junction! From the 18th to the 22nd September, we welcomed designers to our shop and café, serving up coffee and speciality teas for the weary, ice cold drinks and fresh orange juice for the hot and bothered, and homemade delicious eats from baguettes, sausage rolls, scotch eggs and salad to pastries, cakes and brownies for the downright hungry! We were also showcasing a mix of vintage, modern and reinvented pieces such as ornaments, cushions and a chair or two. Did you visit the stand?
Pop down to our Shoreditch store for more. Our exhibition with Deadgood will show in the Pitfield London gallery until Wednesday 16th October – see here for more about the Plex Collection installation.
Coming up, we pop-up again! This time in Winchester for four months. @pitfieldpopup brings the bustling city shop, café and gallery to the leafy suburbs so more can enjoy our eclectic wares. Stay tuned for the official launch date in early October…
The London Design Festival was never going to be quiet here at Pitfield London! As well as appearing as a partner for London Design Festival, we joined the Shoreditch Design Triangle and will celebrate on Tuesday 17th September 2013 with a late night opening (until 9pm).
We teamed up with Great British contemporary furniture designers Deadgood to present the ‘Plex Collection’. See our last blog about the autumnal inspired ‘plex’ metal, with special thanks to Formica.
Join us at the private view event, all welcome! RSVP HERE.
You can also catch us throughout London Design Festival at Design Junction. After the fun and success at Tent London last Design Festival, we’ll be popping up as a café with small shop area displaying select pieces from our Autumn/Winter ranges. Join us for foodie treats including healthy and nutritious mixed salads, original homemade recipes and cakes, patisserie, paninis and more. Serving some of Britain’s favourite bites, we’ll also offer handcrafted sausage rolls and delicious scotch eggs alongside tempting brownies and tarts, with coffee and speciality tea, beer and wine and freshly squeezed orange juice.
We hope to see you soon at 31-35 Pitfield Street or at The Sorting Office on New Oxford Street – enjoy LDF 2013!
First things first, it’s the end of our Kim Zoe Wagner exhibition (although we’ll continue to stock a selection of her bright and beautiful taxidermy in the shop, as well as the gorgeous photographic postcard bundles). Don’t miss out!
This week, Wednesday 4th September 2013 to be exact, sees the launch of our next exhibition with contemporary furniture designers Deadgood - hence our self-satisfied blog post title! The Deadgood installation, especially for September’s London Design Festival and featuring on the Shoreditch Design Triangle, will show until Wed 16th October and we’ll celebrate with a late night opening until 9pm on Tuesday 17th September (the official LDF late night opening). Sign up to our newsletter at the bottom of our website so you don’t miss your official invite!
Deadgood will exhibit the collaborative Plex Collection (alongside other pieces in a retrospective show). Domestic orientated products, namely a cabinet and sideboard, will be displayed utilising a laminate material called ‘plex’. Minimal and slick, the pieces come in a neutral autumnal colour scheme. We hope you like it!
For more information on the collection or general shop updates, please email email@example.com or call 0207 490 6852.
Tomorrow (Thursday 22nd August) we celebrate the success of taxidermist Kim Zoe Wagner’s exhibition at Pitfield London. Our private view party kicks off at 6pm, until 9pm, and you will be provided with the usual complementary drinks from our café!
As well as truly wonderful framed pieces, mainly birdlife such as bright canaries with a sprinkling of piranhas too, Kim will be displaying freestanding pheasants and a peahen. None of the animals Kim uses have been killed for the purpose of taxidermy.
Alongside the exhibition, you can get a sneak preview of our Autumn/Winter collections, which will be available from Selfridges from October. Come and join us at 31-35 Pitfield Street for vintage, reinvented and modern curiosities!
Don’t forget to RSVP firstname.lastname@example.org before end of play today…
IITTALA Taika Plate (White, 30cm), was £28, now £25.20
Pitfield London regulars and fans from afar will know we’re a concept store – part shop, part cafe, part exhibition gallery. We love to tell a story and see the whole store linked as one. The IITTALA Taika Plate (pictured) is the perfect example of this…
Illustrated by Klaus Haapaniemi, the Finnish artist (who now resides in Hackney) was the very first to collaborate with us on a Pitfield London exhibition for our launch in December 2011. The exhibition, influenced by Klaus’ love for nature, folklore and fantasy, playfully experimented with traditional arts by giving them an unexpected modern twist.
Klaus’ magical designs, namely this quirky IITTALA crockery, leave a legacy in store as they’re available for sale throughout the year.
Not only this, we serve freshly ground coffee in Haapaniemi illustrated cups and saucers in the cafe. There’s no escaping his whimsical woodland creatures! Now in the SALE, grab them whilst they’re reduced.
Did you get this month’s newsletter? Don’t forget to join us next Thursday 22nd August 2013, 6-9pm, for the private view of Kim Zoe Wagner’s taxidermy show. Read about her exhibition here.
