The London Design Festival was never going to be quiet here at Pitfield London! As well as appearing as a partner for London Design Festival, we joined the Shoreditch Design Triangle and will celebrate on Tuesday 17th September 2013 with a late night opening (until 9pm).
We teamed up with Great British contemporary furniture designers Deadgood to present the ‘Plex Collection’. See our last blog about the autumnal inspired ‘plex’ metal, with special thanks to Formica.
Join us at the private view event, all welcome! RSVP HERE.
You can also catch us throughout London Design Festival at Design Junction. After the fun and success at Tent London last Design Festival, we’ll be popping up as a café with small shop area displaying select pieces from our Autumn/Winter ranges. Join us for foodie treats including healthy and nutritious mixed salads, original homemade recipes and cakes, patisserie, paninis and more. Serving some of Britain’s favourite bites, we’ll also offer handcrafted sausage rolls and delicious scotch eggs alongside tempting brownies and tarts, with coffee and speciality tea, beer and wine and freshly squeezed orange juice.
We hope to see you soon at 31-35 Pitfield Street or at The Sorting Office on New Oxford Street – enjoy LDF 2013!
First things first, it’s the end of our Kim Zoe Wagner exhibition (although we’ll continue to stock a selection of her bright and beautiful taxidermy in the shop, as well as the gorgeous photographic postcard bundles). Don’t miss out!
This week, Wednesday 4th September 2013 to be exact, sees the launch of our next exhibition with contemporary furniture designers Deadgood - hence our self-satisfied blog post title! The Deadgood installation, especially for September’s London Design Festival and featuring on the Shoreditch Design Triangle, will show until Wed 16th October and we’ll celebrate with a late night opening until 9pm on Tuesday 17th September (the official LDF late night opening). Sign up to our newsletter at the bottom of our website so you don’t miss your official invite!
Deadgood will exhibit the collaborative Plex Collection (alongside other pieces in a retrospective show). Domestic orientated products, namely a cabinet and sideboard, will be displayed utilising a laminate material called ‘plex’. Minimal and slick, the pieces come in a neutral autumnal colour scheme. We hope you like it!
For more information on the collection or general shop updates, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0207 490 6852.
Tomorrow (Thursday 22nd August) we celebrate the success of taxidermist Kim Zoe Wagner’s exhibition at Pitfield London. Our private view party kicks off at 6pm, until 9pm, and you will be provided with the usual complementary drinks from our café!
As well as truly wonderful framed pieces, mainly birdlife such as bright canaries with a sprinkling of piranhas too, Kim will be displaying freestanding pheasants and a peahen. None of the animals Kim uses have been killed for the purpose of taxidermy.
Alongside the exhibition, you can get a sneak preview of our Autumn/Winter collections, which will be available from Selfridges from October. Come and join us at 31-35 Pitfield Street for vintage, reinvented and modern curiosities!
Don’t forget to RSVP email@example.com before end of play today…
IITTALA Taika Plate (White, 30cm), was £28, now £25.20
Pitfield London regulars and fans from afar will know we’re a concept store – part shop, part cafe, part exhibition gallery. We love to tell a story and see the whole store linked as one. The IITTALA Taika Plate (pictured) is the perfect example of this…
Illustrated by Klaus Haapaniemi, the Finnish artist (who now resides in Hackney) was the very first to collaborate with us on a Pitfield London exhibition for our launch in December 2011. The exhibition, influenced by Klaus’ love for nature, folklore and fantasy, playfully experimented with traditional arts by giving them an unexpected modern twist.
Klaus’ magical designs, namely this quirky IITTALA crockery, leave a legacy in store as they’re available for sale throughout the year.
Not only this, we serve freshly ground coffee in Haapaniemi illustrated cups and saucers in the cafe. There’s no escaping his whimsical woodland creatures! Now in the SALE, grab them whilst they’re reduced.
Did you get this month’s newsletter? Don’t forget to join us next Thursday 22nd August 2013, 6-9pm, for the private view of Kim Zoe Wagner’s taxidermy show. Read about her exhibition here.
Please RSVP firstname.lastname@example.org
We can’t get enough of Instagram and if you love it too, we hope you’ll follow us @pitfieldlondon. We post (nearly!) every day and our eclectic, eccentric posts are a mix from the shop, cafe and exhibition gallery. Whether it’s a close-up of an antique, quirky vintage find, reinvented furniture piece, detailed patterns on wallpapers and carpets, colourful ceramics, candles or cushions, we share it with you with price points too! You’ll also be the first to see ‘NEW IN’ exclusives, sale items and one off treasures. Not only this, we share delicious foodie treats and coffee fixes from the cafe – look out for #foodporn! Instagram followers will be among the first to see our exhibitions being installed and the final show-stopping results, whilst we also give you regular updates about out of store events and private view parties.
Don’t forget to tag your Instagram pictures from 31-35 Pitfield Street with #pitfieldlondon so we can find you and go on a mass liking spree!
If you’d like any further information on the products featured on our Instagram feed you can ask away online or contact us directly on 0207 490 6852 | shop@pitfieldlondon

In the shop, our SALE continues. You can still enjoy great discounts across vintage, reinvented and modern items. Pop by or browse the website for the latest!
Is it lunch time yet? This week, we’ve launched our cafe’s new ‘summer’ (good weather not guaranteed!) menu. We have two mouthwatering menus, which will alternate each week, so whenever you visit be sure to try something new and exciting, even if you’re a Pitfield regular.
As well as delicious new breads, flavoursome fillings (for the experimental and more conservative eaters) and amazing new summer salad varieties, we also introduce Pitfield Protein Pots – perfect for those in need of a health kick, no carb dieters, gluten intolerants or if you just fancy a lighter lunch one day. Pitfield Protein Pots come bread free and we’ll always have a meat, fish or vegetarian option on offer.
Pictured are two of our protein pots: free range roast chicken with chargrilled peppers, and crayfish with wild rocket or avocado and tangy lemon mayonnaise. Also above are two of our new sandwiches in the summer range, succulent roast chicken, spicy chorizo, piquillo peppers and lemon mayonnaise on rock salt and rosemary focaccia bread, plus crayfish and wild rocket with lemon mayonnaise on a healthy seeded panini loaf.
The full menus will be live on the cafe page of our website soon so do check back to whet that appetite!
Elsewhere in our concept store, taxidermist Kim Zoe Wagner’s exhibition will launch on 15th July. Our sale rages on too so pop by to pick up a bargain… or three.
Have a great week!
You may have noticed there’s an intruder in town! Namely, Pitfield London‘s new robot friend. What shall we call him? He looks like a Bob, or maybe Barry…
The wooden robot and friends make up our brand new window installation, the creation of HOTTOPIXXX. Not content with one ‘x’, they picked three! HOTTOPIXXX loved our store, believing it nearly matched their own level of quirkiness, so contacted us with a view to work on an installation together. We let them take creative control and this is what emerged! The team are made up of 6 designers, illustrators and artists (namely Daniele, Dionne, Els, Fin, Geneva and Josh – see their website for individual links); together they produce large scale installation pieces for events and cool locations – e.g. us! The window installation was unveiled at last week’s private view alongside our current exhibition, ‘Common Birds’ by Louise West.
For a limited time only, admire the wooden window explosion, complete with mushy peas van (why not?) and let us know what you think to our new look over on Facebook and Twitter. Don’t forget to sign up to our newsletter too so you won’t miss out on future exhibitions and events.
Thanks HOTTOPIXXX, we think the window couldn’t get wackier!
